Mary: I am the Lord's Servant

December 21, 2008 - Pastor Ed Kang

When the angel approached Mary about the life-changing circumstances she would soon encounter through bearing Jesus, her amazing response was, "I am the Lord's servant. May it be to me as you have said (Luke 1:26-38)." God chooses a peasant girl, with the lowest socio-economic status, through which she developed a basic posture of submission, to work His greatest gift to humanity. Is there a message here about what God values, whom He chooses to use, and the wrongness of human valuation? How can we, like Mary, cultivate a posture of submission and servanthood before God and others, leading to a blessed life?
