Out of the Night - Part III

"...whoever believes in him will not perish but have eternal life..." There is this fallacious understanding that reason is opposed to faith, when in fact, reason is what drives faith. We "believe in" something when we "believe that" certain propositions are true. What, then, is it that leads one to have a "crisis in faith?" Consider that it's, rather, emotions, moods, panic or desires, that causes us to reconsider all that we had reasonably come to understand and believe. It's the desires for "my precious," that cause us to distrust our Shepherd and Provider. We need to solidify our faith by continuing in what we've learned and been convinced of... by broadening our understanding of the Word of God, and putting it into action.
