In the act of giving, it's not about the gift as much as it is about the relationship. Recognizing this makes gratitude the wonderful thing that it is, to make the connection that behind this gift there's a heart saying, "I care for you, I want to relate with you." God, the great Giver, asks us to pause, notice, and give thanks to Him for His gifts and love for us.
